Kreator formed as Tyrant in 1982 in Essen, Germany. The original lineup featured vocalist/guitarist Mille Petrozza, drummer Jürgen 'Ventor' Reil, and bassist Rob Fioretti. They soon changed their name to Tormentor and released two demos. They changed the name of the band again to the final one, Kreator and signed to Noise Records in 1985. The name change came from the label, as there already was a band by the name Tormentor from Hungary.

Dave Fortman - Guitar
Dave Fortman played guitar in California-based hard rock band, Ugly Kid Joe, though the 1990s. Beside as an American music producer, he has worked with bands such as Superjoint Ritual, Mudvayne, Otep, as well as on two of Evanescence's multi-platinum selling albums. He is currently working with Simple Plan on their third studio album.
Klaus Kichstadt - Guitar
The founding member and guitarist of oddball hard rock / metal band Ugly Kid Joe. After Ugly Kid Joe disbanded, Eichstadt worked with a rap group called Broughman.
Whitfield Crane - Vocal
After Ugly Kid Joe disbanded in 1997, Whitfield went on a tour with Life of Agony then he formed a band called Medication, which disbanded in 2002 due to record label issues. Whitfield now sings for Another Animal, and is a possible candidate to be the lead singer of Anthrax, the New York thrash metal band.
